The Possibility Mindset Podcast
Join Devin Henderson as he opens up about faith, family, and what it means to keep moving forward in every season of life.
After experiencing the unimaginable loss of his eight-week-old daughter Ivy, Devin stepped away from podcasting to grieve with his family. Now he’s back, going deeper into his personal faith, the hard questions, and the spiritual truths that have sustained him through life’s darkest moments.
How do you keep going when life falls apart? What do you do when you've achieved everything and still feel empty? How do you find meaning when there's no challenge left to chase?
Through solo reflections and conversations with guests who’ve faced extraordinary challenges of their own, Devin explores what it really takes to believe that something greater is always possible—no matter what.
This is a different side of Devin—one that goes beyond what audiences have seen from the stage. Expect vulnerability, honesty, hope, and real conversations about navigating life’s hardest questions while continuing to ask:

The Possibility Mindset Podcast
#34 Two Years Later: What Else Is Possible?
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Two years can change everything.
After a break, I’m bringing back the Possibility Mindset Podcast with real life, real grief, and a deeper kind of hope than I knew how to talk about before.
In this episode, I share the update I never got to give: the birth of our daughter Ivy on August 8, 2024, and losing her to SIDS just eight weeks later. I talk about what it looks like to keep moving when your world gets rocked, how our Christian faith carried us through unimaginable loss, and why I still believe something greater is always possible.
I’ll also catch you up on some incredible changes in our family and my work—from welcoming our ninth baby (was it another girl? Find out!) to a new book, a new chapter in my speaking career, and even performing at the World Cup in Kansas City.
And underneath all of it is one question that continues to take on deeper and deeper meaning for me:
What else is possible?
If you’re walking through loss, pursuing something bigger, or simply need some hope for whatever comes next, this episode is for you.

Welcome Back After Two Years
SpeakerWhat's up, everybody? Welcome to the Possibility Mindset Podcast. My name is Devin Henderson. I am your host, and I believe that something greater is always possible for you. Welcome back, everybody. Alright, that may be the last time that I give that exact intro. Wow, here we are. We're doing it. It's been over two years since I've released a podcast. And I appreciate your patience. Thank you for those of you that have asked about the podcast. I've taken a break for several reasons, but I have a lot to update you on. Like so much to update you on. And I do know where to start. It's just like kind of how do you start? How do you get into it? So wow, it's uh it's surreal. You'll notice that I am in a new space, and I'm gonna I'm gonna talk about that too. We're gonna talk about the the new pod space, a new teammate I have here with me, a cool dude I just met actually this morning. Um, so Matt, you know, I'm gonna jump into the updates because a lot of
Ivy’s Birth And Losing Her
Speakeryou maybe, maybe if you don't know me personally or you haven't seen me speak on stage or you haven't read my book, that's right, my book. I'll get to that. You you may not know like all that has happened. So let me start with something I just realized. I was thinking that you all knew about our eighth child, Ivy, who was you know our eighth daughter. And um, but when I looked back and realized we didn't release um the last podcast, well, we released it in July of 2024, and she was born in August. So I actually never announced her birth on the podcast, and I was like, oh my goodness. Um, so just to prepare you, the next part's hard. I don't just want to like drop it like a bombshell. Um, Ivy was born August 8th, 2024. And then sadly we lost her eight weeks later to Sid's. Um so she passed away on October 3rd, 2024, 901 p.m. And that is one of the big reasons that I haven't been podcasting for a while. Just one of many reasons. And I thought, you know, I could like start the new podcast season, if you will, talking about her, but I think I'm that's gonna be dripped out over time. So I'm not gonna tell the full story today. Um, there's so much that goes with it. I mean, um but that that's the biggest update. Since just if you're just a podcast listener, we had our baby, it was a girl, we lost our baby. Now, um, to table that for future podcasts, we'll come back to the details of all that. And and and by the way, yes, hardest thing I've ever been through. Um, there I said I'm not gonna talk about it now, I'll just briefly incredibly hard, absolutely uh rocked our world, but didn't like crush it, you know, because of our faith. And I'm gonna get more into faith later, too. So um that's all that I really need to say for now. Obviously, we're doing great, everyone's doing awesome. Um, Jesus brought us through it, you know, we're we're doing amazing. Which leads me to the second update.
Pregnancy Again And Baby Hylan
SpeakerWe got pregnant again. So, right after we lost Ivy and we were going through grief and everything, Lynn and I were like, okay, we're gonna have another one, right? Like, we don't want to wanna end like that. And so very soon after we got pregnant and we had another kid um last November, so November 26th, we had another baby. And if again, if you're just a podcast listener, you don't even know if we had a boy or a girl. Keep in mind we had eight girls. So, what was our ninth baby? Are you ready? Drum roll, please. Nathan's over there just like uh I don't know how to do this without messing up the sound in the room. We had a boy, baby. We had a boy. Can you believe it? I know. This is fun to announce this. We had a boy. It only took us nine tries, and honestly, not that we were ever like having more kids to have a boy. That honestly was never, I mean, people assume, oh, you gotta keep going until you get that boy. We we didn't, we really don't care what we have. I you know, um, we're just so blessed to have a baby. His name is Hylan, he's incredible, he's eight months on the 26th. Uh, he'll be nine months. By the way, today is like October 21st. Excuse me, August 21st. Um, and this may not be released for like another month or two. So, you know, you're dipping back into summertime. Like right now, it's it's you know, summer outside. We love summer. Uh, my kids do. They love they love the beach, even though we didn't go to the beach this year, we went to the mountains. So um, if you know me, I'm like the king of tangents. I don't mind them at all. I just like to speak what's on my mind. Like we're having coffee because we are. Um, so Highland, incredible dude, like the blondest hair you've ever seen. Looks exactly like me when I was that age. We've been looking at baby pictures, digging up old ones. It's like, oh my gosh, well, we know what he's gonna look like, you know, when he's grown up. So it's such a blessing. And and having another child has been helpful with the grief process for sure. I mean, uh, you know, we got pregnant. When did we get pregnant? I guess if he was born in August, you know, right at maybe like the very beginning of the year, I guess, after we lost Ivy. So it was it was a quick turnaround. It's the the closest we've ever had two babies together. Um so uh gosh, Hylan is awesome. Now I I I don't want to say like that you absolutely have to have another kid to heal. So that that's not the message here. I'm not like, well, that's the only way we got through it. No, it was because of Jesus that we got through it. Um, but for for our story, that was just it became part of the healing process for us. So what a blessing. All
Claire’s Engagement Wedding And Move
Speakerright, those are the two biggest updates. Um, a third update that is like right up there with like I mean, the like life changes. Claire, our oldest, got engaged a year ago to Joshua. Oh my gosh. You you some of you remember Claire being on the podcast, well, several years ago now, and just how beautiful of a woman woman she is in every way, follows the Lord closely. We're so proud. I'm so blown away that God has created and and brought to, you know, bringing to completion, which is a lifelong process, but bringing to completion someone who came from me. And I don't mean to be like a pick me, like I'm horrible, but it's like, man, that like he he's done something, he's brought someone so beautiful through my faults, through my sin, through who I am. And so it's it's just incredible to see what he's done with her. They got engaged in Nigeria because who doesn't? They um we're gonna at some point I want to have them both on the podcast. Um, Joshua is an incredible dude, comes from an amazing family. We're so blessed to have these people in our lives. Um, but he's been called to Nigeria since, you know, he was like, I think a freshman in high school. Um so anyway, uh when he asked me for my daughter's hand in marriage, he was kind of I he shared with me that, you know, he's like, I didn't know if any dad would ever let me marry their daughter when I feel called to like go somewhere um like Nigeria to be a missionary. But Claire also feels the calling is a missionary and wants to go someplace where it's where the gospel, it's you know, the gospel needs to be preached. So it's awesome God's brought them together. It's incredible. Oh, and by the way, the other update is they're actually married now. Because I'm digging far back enough to where they there was time for them to get engaged, and then a year went by and they got married. So they did, they got married about two months ago on June 12th. I think I have that right. Um, just um immediate family only. It was very small on the his family's farm. They have a ministry and they just recently purchased land, I think it was a little over what was that, like a year ago, maybe. And uh, and so they got married next to like a pond with the sunset behind them. I mean, it was a beautiful wedding. Josh was dad, Jason officiated. Um, my three of my little girls were the flower girls. Charlotte played violin. I mean, it was just like uh it was just a beautiful deal. Some of our girls were obviously the older ones were bridesmaids. So it was awesome. And then actually, tomorrow is their wedding reception. So it's just kind of funny how it worked out. Tomorrow, they're gonna have a reception with all kinds of friends, family. I mean, it's gonna be insane tomorrow. I can't, I don't I don't know how many people are gonna be there, but uh, I'm excited about it just to celebrate this huge thing with them. The other big part of that story is that she's, you know, obviously when you get married, a lot of times you move out. So she moved out. Not only did she move out, they moved away down to Arkansas. Um, so we're in Kansas City, Arkansas. It's like, I think three, about three hours away. I actually haven't driven down there yet. Um, they've been up here several times, but they're living in Bentonville. I think they're actually in Rogers, but right across the line from Bentonville. And Joshua is uh working at a mountain bike shop, um, repairing and renting out bike rentals. Because as I understand it, Bentonville is like the mountain biking capital of the world, and Joshua is an avid mountain biker. So it's pretty cool that he's doing a job that right in his zone of genius. Claire for the last year, I didn't know I was going to talk so much about Claire and Joshua, but hey, I'm I'm excited about them. Um spent uh the last year at Johnson County Community College, which is here in Overland Park, Kansas, where Nathan lives, and uh um got her EMT and passed on the first try her state and her, I guess, federal um or national test. And so she's like ready to go. So she's actually has done one job interview down there and is waiting to hear back. So we're we're praying she gets the job. But then again, we always pray, Lord, thy will be done. So those are the biggest updates about our family, our
New Website And Sharper Keynote
Speakerchildren. Uh, very excited, and obviously more to come on all of that. So exciting updates. Um, another now, kind of I'm gonna jump into like sort of business updates. You know, where are we? You know, um, I'm thinking things are great with business, obviously, still speaking, still doing magic, still doing the thing. I have a new website if you want to check it out. Um, Nikki Groom with Raised Voices, her team's incredible. They specialize in speaker websites. Check it out, DevinHenderson.com. They did an incredible job. They have amazing designers, Kendra, and then my man David, who makes the updates. I mean, dude, I'm so happy with the website. It just we just need my last website, it was also awesome. Uh Chrissy did a beautiful job. It was just time to kind of, you know, uh, that's just the way the marketing world works and business works. Every, every so you have to update your headshots every once in a while. You gotta you know, give your website a facelift. It wasn't just a facelift, though, it was a complete overhaul. Um, so I'm very, very happy about the website. New demo video, Chris West and his team. Um uh OutSpeak is who helped me with that video. And it's it's really cool. It's really captured kind of the impact that my keynote has on audiences, sort of like my new, uh, I don't know, my new, you know, message. I mean, I guess it's not really a new message, but your message evolves. And so it is new in that way that there's a lot of new parts to it. But you just keep tweaking and and making it better and better and better. And so the keynote really is, I mean, it's at a new level. It's I I feel this shift happening where I'm the keynote, I just feel like it's hitting so much harder. It's so much tighter. Every second counts, there's no dead space. It's like when a comedian prepares their special for Netflix. It feels like it's like Netflix ready, whatever the speaker equivalent of that is, because I get up there and I just know it's gonna hit because there's just I don't know. It's just, you know, over time you just you just hone it. Um, and I mean this in a way that's like I'm excited about and I've gotten so much help. My coach Danielle, I'm sure I've talked about her several times in the past, just help me get it there. And then just life circumstances. I mean, I talk about Ivy now, I'm have more magic, and I have video cameras that, you know, project the magic onto big screens. It's it's very exciting. Um, so you know, August right now, September is like I'm I'm slammed, and I say that in a way that's just very exciting because right now is the calm before the storm, and September is gonna be like keynote time, because that's the way fall and spring are. It's like, you know, summers are like a little bit lighter, not as many converses, and then boom, fall hits, and it's just like it's on. So I'm pumped about that. Here's a probably the biggest business update, aside from all that.
The Book What Else Is Possible
SpeakerAre you ready? Another drum roll, Nathan. There we go. Yeah, fake drum roll. I have written a book. Thank you. Don't even worry about if that's in focus, Nathan. I don't even care. It's just fun to hold it. My book, What Else is possible: A Magician's Secrets to Greater Breakthroughs in your life and your work. So exciting. Oh my gosh. I I love it, man. That's me on the front, like breaking chains. I didn't really break them. That was just like fake. But let's just say, uh, anyway, there's so much to talk about with the book. Thank you. Share your story/slash streamline, Will Severns, Alex Demcek, and team. You guys helped me get this book done and out. Tracy Mott, the person who helped me write it. Oh my goodness. My my editor-in-chief, incredible. Um, Danielle, my speaking coach, wouldn't be here without that. I didn't plan on going through the list of thanking people, so I'm gonna miss some people. But Justin Pickens was the person who initially said you need to, you know, write a book, which I knew that, but he's the one who made me go, okay, this can become a reality. So what else is possible? That is the name of the book. Um, you know, I was I was gonna call the podcast, I was gonna call the book Something Greater Is Always Possible, because that was the name of my keynote for like five years. But something, something happened with the keynote to where, although the the the core message didn't change, but I had three kind of like themes around possibility that I kept saying that were, it was just, it was like, what else is possible? The possibility mindset, something greater is always possible. So I've taken those three and just condensed them to what else is possible. And that is now the name of the keynote. It's the name of the book. I'm thinking about calling the podcast that as well. In the keynote, I repeatedly say, what else is, and the audience says, possible. And that's the way I used to close out the podcast. You know, we would say, what else is possible? Um, because that's really the question that unlocks not only breakthrough, not only working through hard times, but how do we achieve that next level? That's true for you as an individual and is your personal life in your work. It's also true for organizations. We ask, what else is possible? We can never give up, reach new levels of success, and hit those dreams that we some people have said that's absolutely impossible to achieve. So very exciting that question. I love it. It's unlock many things for many people. Um, it's fun now to do book signings like after the show. Sometimes the the the sponsor or the company will purchase books for everyone. And so I get to just hang out and meet people and hang out and sign books, and it's so fun. Uh, so anyway, that's just been like kind of like a next level thing that was like a like a dream that Streamline helped me bring to reality. So thank you so much for that. Um, couple other
Performing At The World Cup
Speakerupdates. Um, something really cool happened this summer, and I I don't want to get into because I'm just trying to give updates and I keep going deeper than I intend to, but I guess that's okay. You know, I didn't know how long this first episode would be. I was like, will it be five minutes of updates? Will it will it be an hour? I don't know. Um will it be four hours, Nathan? I don't know. I hope you have a lot of memory in your deal. Um, but uh I got to perform at the World Cup here in Kansas City. It was incredible. There were there were six home games or six games, World Cup matches at Arrowhead, which is where the Kansas City Chiefs play. And if you're not from here and you don't know that, um, and they had a fan experience outside the stadium where they had all kinds of fun things going on before the game. And they reached out to me and said, we need a local Kansas City person to do soccer freestyle and crowd interaction during the fan experience before the games. And man, I was honored. And man, did I train hard for that? And man, was it a lot of it was like a two and a half hours performance, you know, out in the heat and the humidity, like with fans, and it was like so exhilarating and so like physically challenging in a way that's like that was new to me, and I have a lot to say, so much to say about it. I'm probably gonna have an episode or two just on the World Cup matches, and I got to actually go to five of the games too, five of the six games. The sixth game I didn't go to, it was the Netherlands game. You're gonna think I'm crazy, but the fan experience got rained out and there was lightning. And so I would have had to wait around three hours doing nothing before I went to the match, and I just didn't want to wait three hours. I know it's crazy. Like I skipped the World Cup game, but I after a while you kind of start to take it for granted that you get to go to all these World Cup games. I never even thought I'd go to one, let alone five. So um, incredible experience. Look forward to sharing more about that with you.
The New Podcast Space Mystery
SpeakerUm, so we're in a new space, and we're gonna make this fun. Here's the question for you, and I want you to go to the comments and tell wherever you're watching, whether it's YouTube or Apple or Spotify, go to the comments and tell me, where do you think I am right now? Where is this mysterious room? My only clue is this it is a permanent space. It's where I'm going to be doing the podcast. So it's not a place that I'm renting out. It's it's like the permanent home right now of the podcast. So go to the comments, tell me, where am I? Where do you think I am? I thought that'd be fun. Um, the reason I'm in this space is because if you, you know, tuned into previous podcasts, you'll remember that I was at Ecetera in their sort of uh what do you what do you call it? Banquet area, um, meeting area, and it was amazing. I I love it, it was such a fun thing because the people there were so nice. And it was fun to like bring someone in and have breakfast with them before, you know, have the guest have breakfast with me on the house. Like cetera covered it, and they were just so great. And then we would like sit down and shoot the podcast, and it was such an such a cool, organic, like natural lighting. Fun, you know, we we had like restaurant staff walking back and forth because this meeting space was shared by Egetera, the the breakfast and brunch place, and then Minsky's Pizza, the best pizza on this planet, by the way. Um, hands down, Nathan's nodding. Nathan is like, yeah, I love it. You know what I'm talking about, man. So um, so anyway, but then Ecce. And then that space went completely to Minsky's. So then I realized, oh, I need to approach Minsky's. Well, I approached Minsky's and they said no. And I'm not mad at them because they have the best pizza in the world on the planet. Um, but but I also didn't, I didn't like frame it very well. I was like, hey, can I record a podcast in there? And they're like, uh yeah, no. And so I I think if I maybe would have tried harder, stated my case, got a referral from Egg Setter, there's maybe a chance it could have worked out. But I I didn't feel like I didn't feel like fighting and going there. And honestly, uh after that, um, the quick story is that I I took the month of August off from recording podcasts because that's when we had Ivy. Okay, so this is again back to 2024. And so then the by the time that I was gonna jump back in in the course of like that month is when Egg Setter S sold, uh, and then Rise and Shrine took over, and then I lost that space. So then it was like, well, where are we gonna record now? And so Zach, um, one of the video guys who, you know, is with me, uh, not today, but um he rented out some space at a library, and I was gonna have my friend and speaker, Joel Z, come in. He was he he lives in Dallas, but he's in Kansas City a lot of times because I think his folks live here and his son goes to KU. So he was gonna be in town. So I was like, sweet, I'm gonna have Joel Z on. We're gonna fire the podcast back up. We were all ready to go for October, October 4th. It was a Friday morning. We had the library space rented out, and I was like, this is just what we'll do for the podcast space now. So, spoiler, I'm not in uh the library, but we were ready to go, and then the night before is when Ivy passed, and I somehow had the presence of mind to text Zach and Joel and say, Hey, we're off for tomorrow. Something's occurred, I'll explain later. So then we never we never did it. Um and then I had the idea um of I need I want to find a permanent home for the podcast space, and so the Lord blessed us with this space, which you still don't know what it is. I will reveal it at some point, but I want to see where you think it is in the comments. Um you know, I I I talked about why I quit the podcast and that losing Ivy was part
Why The Podcast Paused
Speakerof it, and it truly was just part of it. Um, a lot of people, when they hear me speak and I have the podcast on the website, so they'll go and they'll say, Oh, we see that you know, you mentioned your daughter passed away October 3rd. You haven't recorded a podcast since then. And some people have assumed that's why they're like, I hope you start it up again. And I'm like, Cool, yes, thanks for that encouragement, and me too. But there actually are a few more reasons, and I feel like God does that sometimes. It's like, you know, he just like puts a lot of reasons to make you quit doing something or Start doing something. There was another one for me is I was kind of starting to question like what was the purpose of the podcast? And you know, when I started doing the podcast, uh, which was maybe uh probably 2023, summer of 2023, seems like because I think I did it for about a year. Um, I was doing a lot of solo podcasts just um in a different space than this. So another clue. I don't know if that helps. But um, I was just doing solo stuff, recording it myself, didn't have a Nathan or a Zach with me. And uh so which which is seems pretty easy, but then when you get into like you got to put the bumpers on, you gotta upload it to YouTube, you got you know, there's just like so much that goes with that that it takes up extra minutes of your day. And when you have a business and a family or just even a life, every minute counts, and you want to delegate every single thing that you can. Um, so anyway, uh I when I started doing even the solo stuff again, I thought about going back to square one and being like, hey, I want to just start doing it myself again. But then I thought, no, I want to, I want to be able to leave this time and not spend the next two, three hours making tweaks and doing things. So um there that's where that is. Um, but the purpose of the podcast, it was like eventually after I had did so many solo podcasts, I started having guests on, and most of those guests were other motive, well, the a lot of them were other motivational speakers, um, who I was in in a sense like promoting, you know, hey, I promote the speaker, which I have no problem with. That's great. Um and promoting their messages, and it kind of came to the point of yeah, what what am I doing? Because it was like so many different topics and everything that the podcast, we kind of had that possibility mindset theme, but it was like, what am I doing? What's the deeper purpose of this? And after we lost Ivy, I started thinking about what was this podcast gonna be? So for me, obviously, I'm a Christian, I'm a man of prayer. I'm very much about seek God on everything. I find things go so much better when I ask God, what do you want me to do? And the answers
Grief Loss And Future Guests
Speakereventually become clear in my gut and through the Bible. And I finally started realizing I grief might be a major theme and possibly the theme of this podcast moving forward. And I don't know that for sure. I what I don't want to do is like uh niche this podcast before it's ready. Um, because I might be talking about Ivy and grief for like, say, even a year, and then all of a sudden, you know, even with guests, other guests who are grieving or who have lost, and then be like, okay, we could that was a season. Now let's jump back into something else. Um, what something that someone told me 15 years ago as a speaker is that hey, you gotta niche, you gotta find your niche. It's like some people say, hey, don't work so hard at finding your niche. Just do your thing, be in your zone of genius, live your passion, speak to people what worth you think you can provide to them, and your niche will find you. Um and so I kind of want the niche to find this podcast. I don't want to force anything, I want to do what feels right at the time. I want to follow the Lord. But I was also thinking like, it could be grief, it could also just be loss. Because as I speak to audiences, many people resonate with grief and losing a person, but there are so many kinds of loss. There's like the loss of uh a job, there's a loss of a hope, a dream, a body part, you know, people have lost uh appendages, and it's all loss. And we all grieve that in some way. And so I thought if I bring guests on, it could be people who have been through loss or any kind of trauma and how God has helped them through that, or how they think God might help them through that, or maybe we have a total atheist on someone that doesn't believe like me at all, which is totally cool. And we can talk about that. We can talk about how without God, how did you get through this thing? I think that'd be super interesting to see like other people's viewpoints because I love seeing what other people think. So that I even have a name in mind if the podcast does take that sort of loss slash grief direction, what it might be. So I have these ideas, uh, but for now it's the possibility mindset podcast. Um and we'll you know what, we'll see what happens. And if you want to join me in prayer with that, that's great. If you are already already feel like you're getting things from this, awesome. Um by the way, I have I've got paper notes. I I man, I do have my phone here. I don't know. I don't, I don't want to have my laptop in front of me. I'm not, I'm not, this isn't a promise, but I don't know, something about going back to like paper. You know, I've been journaling almost every morning and it's so therapeutic, it's so incredible. And pen on paper is just, I don't know, the way to go for me. Um I remember when I first like got an iPad and I was like, oh my gosh, I can eliminate all of this paper and all these to-do, I would have scraps of to-do papers, I would have piles of to-do papers because what would happen is I would be checking things off, and then I'd have like three things left on there, and I didn't have the energy to take those three things and put them on a new list. So I would just circle it, highlight it, and keep it in a pile. So once I got rid of that and went electronic, it was like, oh, this is amazing. You know, I everything's in my pocket or in my backpack, but but now I don't know. I'm I'm back to paper, and a few people have inspired that. I've seen people writing, and it's just, I don't know, it's kind of becoming a lost art, maybe that's that's fun to get back. And I don't know, there's we're we're so much digital, digital, so many screens, so much electronics that for you, the viewer, I would just love for you like to just see paper and just feel that again, you know. So might might get more into that. Uh you know, also with the podcast, I mean, I even I had told Zach, um, hey, get ready, there might be some dark episodes. And I I don't really mean dark. I mean, I am gonna talk about losing a baby and the details of what that was like and the nightmare that we went through. Um, but when I think dark, I mean Jesus is always right here with us. The light is always there. And so I'm you can tell I'm I'm doing great. And I do have an ivy bracelet on that our friends gave us. You know, I still wear it every day. I kiss it. Although it's like she's still, to me, very much alive. She is in heaven with the Lord, kind of like the way she's moved out. You know, she's with Jesus. Claire's moved out, she's with Joshua. I I was sharing with a friend the other day that losing Claire to marriage and life was it was very similar emotions to losing Ivy. It was kind of this, oh, they're they're leaving the nest, they're moving on. Um, and it was weird, like you grieve when your kid gets married and moves on, even though it's like the like the plan. That's what you want from the moment they're born. Hey, they're gonna grow up, they're gonna like find their life, find, find their spouse, move out, you know, and go on with it and follow Jesus. Like that's the plan. Your plan is not to lose them at eight weeks old. But but it was like very hard. And I'll I have stories I could share. I'm gonna save that for like more getting to a Claire Joshua episode. Um, but the reason I what what triggered that from my notes here was that the in the old podcast, when I would do solo podcasts, I would have segments. If you remember, I would have like um trivial complaints, what I'm thankful for, um, something random, and then I would have like kind of the main topic of the day. There might have been a few other segments, which are fun. It kind of gives you the listener some expectations of what I'm gonna cover, what I'm gonna go over. Um, and I might get back into segments. I I don't know. I I so anyway, that was a question in my mind. I don't know if it's a question in your mind or not, but stay tuned. That'll that'll unfold. Um man, you know, that's all I have in my notes. Not promising you that I'm totally winding down right now, but I do the the last big note that I have is the promises for this podcast.
Three Promises And A Sendoff
SpeakerUm, first of all, a drink. By the way, it's summer, but notice that I'm drinking from a Christmas mug. I love Christmas, I love coffee, and every time I drink from a mug, whenever possible, I I choose if I'm at someone's house and they have options, I choose a Christmas mug. I just think coffee and tea, any hot drink should be drank out of a Christmas mug. But that's the Devin Henderson moment of the day. So there you have it. Um the promises I have for this podcast, even though there's so many questions marks right now, um, are things that definitely, no matter what direction it takes, these are the things that right now I want to throw in as promises. And there's three of them. Okay. Promise number one, this podcast is going to be God focused. I'm going to openly share my Christian faith, talk about the hope that I have in Jesus, and something that I'm I'm I'm just gonna openly share. Now, I don't I don't do it on stages, obviously, because in a room like that, they've invited me in. It's not the space for me to get specific about my faith. So I keep the themes about gen more general, right? And uh and filtered and um basically just like more about leadership possibilities, what you can do. Um, so I if you're if you're an event planner and you're hearing this and you're thinking we we can't bring him in to speak because our people, you know, he's gonna offend people if he talks about Jesus because we got people from all walks of life, and I understand that. Um so God has actually done some amazing things about sharing the story of Ivy without crossing that line and offending people. Um, but how that I do have, I do have a deep hope, you know. Uh so that's promise number one. It's gonna be God focused. We're just going all in. You know, a lot of the guests sometimes they'd come in and Christianity would come up. Um, but I just feel like there's there's just more that I want to share. I don't want to just wait for those moments to pop up um by chance and be like, oh, cool, now here we can talk a little bit about Jesus. Like there's gonna be some episodes where maybe, maybe it's all I talk about. I don't know. And, you know, I don't have plans again to niche it and say, well, now it's a Christian podcast, and that's all I'm gonna do is, you know, but because I'm not a pastor, um, so I don't plan on like majorly breaking down scripture. I have had some awesome time in the Bible lately. I'm reading through Joshua right now, it's been incredible. So there might be days where I just, you know, read part of my journal entry about what God's teaching me or something that, you know, profound from the Bible or whatever that um that I may share. So so that's promise number one. All right, God focused. The second one is this I'm gonna be real. I want to be real and authentic and just really share what's going on with you. I don't want this to be like a facade. And I don't feel like it was before, but I kind of want to I see it a place, I want to take it to the next level, like a deeper level of just like transparency, realness, authenticity. Um, that it's not just like, welcome to the possibility mindset. I am super successful and you can be too. It's you know, I don't want to bring that to it. So it's gonna be real. The third one is I'm going to attempt, keyword attempt, to benefit you, the listener, with everything that I say. I don't want to make the promise this will benefit you. I feel like it's like I can't make that promise, but I can promise that there will be an attempt to benefit you in everything that I say. Because a lot of this, obviously, I just have fun. I like to take a while to get into the subject matter. I like to update you, like, like we're on a car ride because maybe you are on a car ride and you're listening to this, and I just want to be like your car buddy. I want to be riding shotgun, sharing things with you. I'm not the welcome to today's podcast. There's gonna be three secrets to unlock your next level of success. Here we go. Here's number one. It's like, that's just not what I want this to be. I want this to be more fun, more organic. Like I'm I'm your bud, I'm your champion, I'm here for you, but I do want to um, as I think about what I'm sharing, think about how can this be, as as Danielle, my speaking coach, calls it, audience facing. Kind of like in my keynotes. I don't just get up and do magic, just my tell my story about America's Got Talent, just tell my story about Ivy in a way that makes you go, well, that's nice for him, but what's that mean for me? Audience facing means look, I'm telling these stories so that you can think about what your stories are that parallel these and how you can also expect greater things, achieve greater things in your work and in your life. So that's the third promise. Attempt to benefit the listener. Boom. One, God focused, two, real. Three, an attempt to benefit you, the listener. All right. You know, I am gonna wrap it up today at this time. I have no idea how long I've been talking. It doesn't matter to me. This was meant to be a jump into season two, whether that's official or whether that's just because it's the next season of life where I'm jumping on a journey with you. I'm I'm pumped to be here. I really am. I'm so excited to be in this space. Nathan and I already have two, we're gonna plan on doing two uh recordings next week to kind of get some into the queue to get us rolling. So I'm I mean, this is just the major tip of the iceberg. This is like an ice cube on the tip of the iceberg of where all this is going to go. So thank you so much for tuning in. Um, if you feel like that you like the direction of this or you feel like this is gonna benefit someone else, share it. Let people know hey, this is starting back up, and we're all gonna be asking that question moving forward. What else is possible? All right, y'all. Thank you so much, and we'll see you next time.
